When he was going out of the mailbox, Bob Ewell approached him. Angry and upset that Atticus got publicly humiliated him, Mister. Ewell proceeded to spit on, curse at, and threaten to kill Atticus. Without playing baseball an lash, Atticus pulled out his handkerchief and did not retaliate.
